The Global Dream, an unfinished ship that Disney Cruise Line acquired last November, will be renamed the Disney Adventure, Disney said at its Destination D23 event on Sept. 9.

In March, Disney said it will base a new ship in Singapore starting in 2025, and the Disney Adventure will be that ship.

Disney acquired the 208,000-gross-ton ship from liquidators after the former owner, Genting Hong Kong, went bankrupt and ceased operations. The ship had been scheduled to sail for Genting's Dream Cruises, an Asian cruise line, with a capacity for 6,000 passengers. Disney has been mum about the work it is doing to transform the Global Dream into the Disney Adventure.

Construction continues at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar, Germany. Genting Hong Kong had owned the yard as well as the ship; new owner Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems bought the yard last year.
