The Wyndham Grand Barbados, Sam Lord's Castle Resort & Spa has opened in Bridgetown.

The oceanfront, all-inclusive resort marks Wyndham Hotels & Resorts' debut in Barbados.

The all-inclusive resort features all new construction, offering 422 guestrooms, including 37 suites. It is a 15-minute drive from Grantley Adams Airport. Not all amenities are open at this time, and a formal grand opening is planned for 2024.

Once fully completed, the resort will offer more than 10 dining venues, lagoon-style swimming pools, a kids' center, butler service, tennis and pickleball courts. The resort also offers 15,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meetings and event space that can accommodate up to 1,100 guests. The resort will feature a 13,000-square-foot spa with a pool area and relaxation deck, along with fitness center and a sunrise yoga center.

The property is located on the former site of Sam Lord's Castle, which had a colorful history dating back to the 19th century. According to legend, pirate Sam Lord would hang lanterns along the coast near the estate, confusing passing ships that would mistake it for the port city of Bridgetown and would then crash on the neighboring reefs. Lord would then plunder the wrecked ships.

The resort is offering 20% discount on bookings made before Nov. 30 for stays until June 19, subject to availability and blackout dates.
