The Four Seasons group plans to open a resort along the beaches of Pongwe on Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania, in partnership with investment firm Albwardy Investment. The Four Seasons Resort Zanzibar will be the company's second in Tanzania, joining the Four Seasons Safari Lodge Serengeti on the mainland.
The newbuild resort on Zanzibar will include 60 private villas with one to three-bedroom configurations. Each villa will offer uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean across the 126-acre beachfront property.
Travelers can enjoy an oceanfront pool and cabanas, water sports, family activities as well as extensive fitness facilities, dynamic meeting and event space, and a luxuriously-appointed spa featuring five private treatment rooms as well as an outdoor cabana for bespoke open-air spa experiences. The resort will also feature five dining outlets, including a signature seafood restaurant and a Mediterranean all-day dining restaurant, featuring locally inspired cuisine and beachside settings.
A dedicated on-site Discovery Centre conservation team will lead sustainability initiatives to protect Zanzibar's habitat and promote responsible tourism.
Recognizing Zanzibar's storied history, the Four Seasons Resort Zanzibar will incorporate rich cultural through its food, wellness offerings and beyond. Its location, just 23 miles via air from Four Seasons' Serengeti resort, means guests will have quick and easy access to safari activities.
An opening date has not been announced.
