Universal Parks & Resorts is planning a theme park for families with young children in Frisco, a Dallas suburb.
The Frisco theme park is a new concept for Universal that will feature themed lands. Universal called its design "more intimate and engaging for younger audiences."
It will be a regional park, and will feature attractions, shows, character meet-and-greets and food and beverage venues.
"Although smaller in size, it will still carry the same quality as Universal's other larger resort destinations," Universal said.
Universal is planning an adjacent hotel, and has room for expansion on the 97 acres of land it recently purchased.
According to Universal, it choose Frisco because of its growing population.
"We are excited about the opportunity to partner with the city of Frisco and Mayor [Jeff] Cheney as we work to bring this innovative, new concept to life designed specifically for a younger generation of Universal fans," Page Thompson, president of new ventures for Universal Parks & Resorts, said in a release. "We think North Texas is the perfect place to launch this unique park for families given its growing popularity within this part of the country."
The park will be located east of the Dallas North Tollway and north of Panther Creek Parkway.
