Beaches Resorts has launched Sesame Street Sunrise Yoga at its properties in Turks and Caicos and in Negril and Ocho Rios, Jamaica, in partnership with Sesame Workshop.
Sesame Street Sunrise Yoga introduces the practice of yoga to children. Elmo, Cookie Monster, Bert and Abby Cadabby are among the Sesame Street characters taking turns hosting the mindfulness exercise. The add-on sessions are bookable at the resorts' Sesame Street Kids camps or online. The 40-minute classes are held twice a week with varying schedules for each of the three Beaches Resorts: Beaches Turks and Caicos, Beaches Negril and Beaches Ocho Rios. A 5-by-7 photo and a kids-size Sesame Street yoga mat are included as keepsakes.
Organizers launched the permanent event this month in recognition of May as Mental Health Awareness Month.
"Yoga is a playful way to help children practice mindfulness, and we're proud to offer this new experience at Beaches Resorts, where we're kicking off 20 years of partnership together," said Jennifer Ahearn, senior vice president of global strategic partnerships and themed entertainment at Sesame Workshop.
The yoga program adds to the collaboration between Sesame Street and Beaches Resorts, which also offers Caribbean Adventures with Sesame Street, offering families story time with Elmo, baking with Cookie Monster, dancing with Zoe, crafting with Julia, making puppets with Bert and Ernie and sharing magic with Abby Cadabby.
